Daoud Basha meatballs recipe

Ingredients

For 4 people

  • Lean beef - 500 g
  • Halved onions - 3
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Coriander - ¼ cup
  • Parsley - ¼ cup
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • 7 spices - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - ½ teaspoon
  • Ground cardamom - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Potatoes cut into medium-sized cubes - 3
  • Green bell pepper cut into medium-sized cubes - 1
  • Red bell pepper cut into medium-sized cubes - 1
  • Crushed tomatoes - 750 g
  • Tomato paste - 2 teaspoons
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Mixed spices - 1 teaspoon
  • Toasted pine nuts to garnish - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

Mince the meat in the Moulinex HV6 Mince & Chop using the medium grid then put in a large bowl.

Turn over the meat mincer and place the chopper. First, thinly chop 1 onion with the garlic, then the parsley with the coriander.

Mix the vegetables with the meat then season with 7 spices, salt, cardamom and black pepper.

Knead with your hands until well combined and shape into medium-sized balls.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan and fry the meatballs until they are just brown from the outside without being cooked.

Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and leave aside.

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Thinly chop the rest of the onions using HV6 Mince & Chop.

Heat the rest of the vegetable oil in a pan and put the onions with the mixed spice. Stir until the onions are tender.

Add the bell peppers and stir for 1 minute then add the potatoes and cook for 15 minutes.

Put the vegetables over the meatballs in the baking dish.

Add the chopped tomatoes and the tomato paste diluted in water. Salt according to taste.

Put in the oven for 20 minutes until the meatballs and the potatoes are cooked and the sauce is thick.

Garnish with toasted pine nuts.
